An anorectic or anorexic is from the Greek meaning ”without” and OREXIS meaning “appetite” which is often known as anorexigenic, anorexiant, or the more common term appetite suppressant. This may be in the form of a dietary supplement, natural plant or drug which reduces appetite, resulting in lower food consumption, leading to weight loss.
